Norwegian Breakaway - Transatlantic from Southampton to New York
The Spiegel Tent for Cirque Dreams & Dinner was a popular venue on Epic so I had booked to do the new Jungle Fantasy show on here for the 4th May.  Despite the sign saying it was closed for rehearsals, the doors were unlocked so I had a peek inside.  It's all on one level, unlike Epic, with the stage more to one side.  The standard seating appeared to be at the back.  I did like the fairground mirrors they had outside though.  More gentle wandering as I slowly made my way back to the cabin.  Taste and Savor are the other two free restaurants with a menu similar to the Manhattan Room and they were really nice with lots of tables.  Once I reached deck 5 again, I was surprised to find the fire door closed.  The one the other side was too.  A rather drunk Brit was quite bemused, opened it, went down the corridor then returned, saying he was on the wrong deck.  Nice chuckle at the end of a very long day to go with all the crew I'd met since boarding who loved my Epic T-shirt so chatted with about her and differences on Breakaway.  Then I went to bed after putting the clocks forward an hour.

The first of six sea days was a nice day but I got up late.  The curtains were pretty thick so the room as almost as dark as an inside and there was also far less draught through the window area than you normally had.  The room itself was bloody freezing though, even though I had the heat on full.  I suffer sinus headaches if things are too cold so I'd have to get something done about it.  But first fresh air and lunch beckoned as well as more exploring and possibly shopping!  I found The Waterfront and instantly loved this area.  It was what was sorely lacking on Epic.  It's not completely wrap around, as you have to go inside when you come to the end forward to get to the other side, but there are also some chairs near the doorways inside.  The doors don't open automatically anywhere on the ship, you press a button.  Walking around, I met a British couple who were moaning, saying there's nothing to do and they only booked it to do a transatlantic.  No they booked because it was cheaper than Cunard!  And nothing to to do?  I'm a solo with no one to talk to throughout the day except strangers and always find plenty to keep be out of mischief.

A deck down to the Promenade and it wasn't nearly as bad as on Epic.  Epic's is horribly enclosed with a viewing area in the middle.  This had viewing areas forward and aft, though had dead ends too.  I definitely preferred this apart from the bumps in front of doors, which you couldn't see well.  Lunch in O'Sheehan's and risked the 'English style' fish and chips to see if there'd been any improvement since Epic.  Nope!  The only difference was the so-called mushy peas were normal pureed garden instead of minted garden.  Celebrity have done the same thing.  Dear American cruise lines, I love you dearly since you're so much fun but mushy peas is something completely different so stop calling these mushy - geddit?  Ta muchly.  Apart from that gripe, I do love O'Sheehan's and it was one of my favourite places on Epic.  Back to exploring!  Spice H20 is another thing kept from Epic although there weren't the upper rows of seating on this.  The sports deck was full of things to do from the rock wall and crazy golf to what NCL UK said on Twitter is "The largest, multi-level ropes course at sea!"  There was also Spider Web, a bungee trampoline, the plank (which really obnoxious passengers should be forced to walk but without the harness!) and on the deck above, basketball court.  Not many were out because it was so cold but I liked it.

I went back to the room and signed up to the internet, which has the same basic packages of 100 and 250 minutes and noticed it was German Google!  I'd also taken back to my room some chicken and mayo rolls as it was such a joy to find things without bell peppers (Cunard put them in those).  As the Manhattan Room was empty, I took the chance to get some photos.  The show in the theatre was Graffiti Classics again, so I didn't go.  My room was still freezing so I reported it about 6.55pm.  It's all reported by computer now rather than picking up the phone to talk to a human being.  I returned to the room and waited and waited but no one came after an hour so I went to get the sunset then headed to dinner after dropping my coat back off in the room.

The Manhattan Room had a huge queue outside.  This happened on Epic with people turning up at what was set dining times on other cruise lines.  They can't comprehend you can go ANY time and ANYWHERE.  They were handing out pagers for Taste, despite there being empty tables.  I queued for Savor and the people in front of me wanted tables for two, which probably happened in Taste.  I was asked if I wanted one for two or would be prepared.  I was thanked when I said I'd share and was put an a table with an elderly American lady from Kansas called Mary Jane, soon to be joined by an American couple originally from New Jersey who said they liked meeting people so preferred to share.  Well what can I say?  The food was fabulous, service terrific and company wonderful!  We were so loud and the conversation did turn a bit rude, much to the disapproval of a sour-faced British lady on the next table.  Afterwards I went back to the room and to bed as I was very tired, wrapping up warm as it was still freezing in there.
