Maasdam (V) in Plymouth
What a lovely ship this Holland America one is.  Debuting in 1993, this 55,451grt ship is the fifth in their illustrious history to bear the name.  A pretty ship along with her sisters, Statendam (1992 and also the fifth in the fleet to bear that name) Ryndam (1994) and Veendam (1996).  In 2008 Carnival/HAL announced they were going to change the look of these beautiful vessels to cram more passengers on.  She was anchored in Plymouth on the 20th July stern facing The Hoe.  Rowan and I decided to take a harbour tour so we could see her better although annoyingly the boat only went one side of Drake's Island.
She was listed to sail at 6pm and she didn't waste any time in going.  Disappointingly she didn't blow her horn as she sailed into the haze.  The Hoe is a marvellous place to see the ships but the sun at that time of day is really at the wrong angle, getting right in your eyes.
