Silver Whisper, Azura & Adonia (II) Returns
Adonia returned to the P&O fleet on the 16th June 2017. She had become a pioneering ship for newly formed Fathom, a social impact brand managed by P&O, paving the way for cruises for Americans to Cuba from Miami.  She initially headed across to the Caribbean in October 2015 for a winter season of cruises before entering the Grand Bahama dockyard in Freeport, Bahamas, in April 2016.  There were all sort of hassles regarding Cuba so her inaugural voyage was to the Dominican Republic on the 17th April.  It had been delayed a week due to issues found during dry docking.  After Cuban problems were settled, Adonia set sail from Miami in the 1st May, arriving in Havana the following day, making US cruising history.  However, just six months after the inaugural trip, it was announced the ship would be returning to P&O for summer 2017 and she ended her final Fathom voyage in Miami on the 4th June.  She recrossed the Atlantic, arriving in Portland, Dorset on the 14th for a few cosmetic touches before returning to Southampton two days later.  Originally scheduled to dock in the QEII Terminal at 9am, it was brought forward half an hour.  Silver Whisper had stayed overnight while Azura arrived a couple of hours earlier.  Adonia certainly made sure everyone knew she was back.  There was total horn mania!  Before docking, she took her fire tug escorts, Svitzer Alma and Svitzer Adira, to the Upper Swinging Ground, passing Azura, and they had a horn battle both ways she travelled.  The fuel bunker, Whitchampion, emerged from Empress Docks and then waited off Ocean Dock for her return.  She resumed normal cruising in the afternoon.
