Independence of the Seas
We welcomed adopted Southampton girl, Indy, back after her Caribbean wintering on the 20th April 2013.  It was almost five years to the day since she made her entrance brand new.  This day she would be sailing to Hamburg for her first refit plus get the changes her sisters already had during 'Revitalization', including a screen to watch films and stuff on deck.  Her departure was scheduled for noon.  As I was heading over to meet a group of people from Facebook at 1pm in the Duke of Wellington pub in Bugle Street (great food!) as Betsy Samson-Andrews and her hubby Mark were in the UK from California, I decided to catch her going.  Hotspur was in for her annual overhaul but it was unexpected to see Hurst Castle in her spot.  The mates on the ferry hadn't put the chain across so it was lucky no kids were running around and the roof still hadn't been replaced on the gangway.  Meanwhile two pigeons, which I assume were nesting as they tried taking rope fibres, were amusing me as I waited since Indy was late.  She may share her 2nd May birthday with QE2 but she's not Lizzie so no diva behaviour please!  As I was about halfway across to Town Quay, I just about heard her blasting over the noise of the ferry engine then dashed to the other side of Town Quay as fast as my crocked knee would let me.  Then I went to meet my friends.
