Independence of the Seas, Seabourn Sojourn Southampton Debut & Black Watch (III)
A newish ship on the 27th April 2011 when Seabourn Sojourn arrived in Southampton at the end of her maiden world cruise.  Now I honestly cannot remember if it's the first time we've had a Seabourn but there certainly hasn't been any since 2005 when I got back into this shippy lark properly.  Seabourn Sojourn is the second of the new 32,000grt ships and debuted on the 6th June 2010 after a naming ceremony on the Thames with Twiggy Lawson as her Godmother.  Compared to the smaller original vessels, these look like they ate all the pies!  She was originally scheduled at 8am, so we planned an early morning marina trip only it was changed and she came for 6am.  I enjoyed my lie in and the warm!  Black Watch arrived first, docking in Mayflower starboard for 4.45am while  Indy was in the usual City at 5.30am.  Departures were 4.45pm for Indy, 5pm for Sojourn and a jaw-dropping 6.30pm for Black Watch!  We sincerely hoped that was wrong, although docking anything the wrong way round up there is always a pain.  It was cold and windy just like the day before when Artemis left the P&O fleet but a few people turned out regardless.
Indy took us all by surprise by trying to sneak away twenty minutes early.  No chance, fatso, unless you go on a crash diet!  You and Mary should compare notes!  She gave three loud blasts after getting into the lane and moved forward.  For some reason she wasn't flying any flags from her mast.
Seabourn Sojourn began singling up at five to five then waited about ten minutes before moving sideways from the berth.  She didn't blast which was quite disappointing but once she was on the way, she had a good lick on her.
Then we went home.  Annoyingly the driver of the 5.25pm just went past even though he knew people wanted to get on so we had to wait longer.  Black Watch kept being delayed. 6.30pm became 8.30pm then 9.45pm before being changed to am on the 28th.  To see a video of Indy and Sojourn sailing, click here.
