Black Watch (III), Saga Pearl II & Oriana (II)
Three beauties in on the 18th April 2010.  Saga Pearl II was in Mayflower, Black Watch in City and Oriana in Ocean.  It was a gorgeous day but the usual April haze seemed more milky, probably due to the cloud of Icelandic volcano ash currently moving across the country.  I could certainly smell and taste it.  Black Watch and Oriana were due to sail at 4.30pm with Pearl half an hour later.

While a Grimaldi car carrier first went to the Upper Swinging Ground before heading back down, delaying Oriana, Black Watch was quick off the mark and it took the many prople around me a while to notice.

As Black Watch was turning around, Saga Pearl II slipped quietly away from the berth.  Meanwhile it was clear Oriana would be going nowhere just yet.
Pearl gave three glorious blasts which were followed by Black Watch doing likewise.  Oriana was a flipping party pooper!  But this order of departure had been completely unexpected so a wonderful bonus.
It was at this moment we heard the eight bells of muster, repeated immediately afterwards.  For some reason Saga don't think their passengers want to enjoy sailaway.
Oriana then gave a pathetic half-hearted puff rather than three short blasts to signal going astern as she moved back out of the dock.

The crowd had long dispersed by the time we stopped so I could take the above two shots.  It was good to finally get pictures of Saga Pearl II properly since she arrived in March.  To see photos of that arrival, click here.
