Adonia (I) & Oceana (II) Maiden Voyages
The Sun Class 77,000grt Sea Princess (II) had her first maiden voyage for Princess Cruises in 1998.  Her younger sister, the 77,000grt Ocean Princess (I) arrived 2 years later and cruised regularly in the Caribbean.  In 2002 it was announced they would be transferred to P&O and based in Southampton from May 2003 as Adonia (I) and Oceana (II) respectively.  They had a joint quayside naming ceremony with HRH The Princess Royal and her daughter, Zara Phillips as godmothers.  The maiden voyage was in pouring rain and they sailed within a minute of each other, Adonialeading the way.  Unfortunately Adonia was not a success and P&O announced in 2004 she would revert back to Princess with her old name from May 2005 while Royal Princess, already based in Southampton, would replace her in the fleet as Artemis a month later.  The pictures below are as they sailed past on their maiden voyage.  They are different ships in the photos.  I didn't cheat and use the same one for both. The first three are Adonia.
Several minutes later Oceana began to emerge as she followed her sister towards the Solent.
