After disembarking Ventura, I walked from Mayflower Terminal to Oriana in City Terminal and the weather was just as awful while, despite instructions, many were not adhering to the routes P&O had told them for months. Quite a lot from Ventura, for instance, came along Herbert Walker Avenue instead of going out the way of the map we'd all had with our disembarkation info. |
After dropping my luggage behind the desk, I then walked to Town Quay to meet my friend Fay (who would be going on Oriana with me) and my dad, got a taxi and headed to Blue Funnel for the 11.30am harbour tour. Understandably the port would be very busy on the water as everyone wanted to see all these ships together. There were two queues for boats at that time, but the one which boarded first (Ocean Scene) was the lunch cruise. As we set off and headed along the Itchen, the rain pelted in our direction. Thankfully it did dry up a bit. THV Patricia was still in 49 where I'd left her three days earlier, while HMS Dragon had arrived in Marchwood. |
After dropping my dad back at Town Quay, Fay and I walked to City Terminal via a busy Mayflower Park and hoped it wouldn't rain again. Oriana, Aurora, Arcadia and Ventura looked good alongside the dock and I noticed in ABP's sign over Dock Gate 8, they listed the ships in order of arrival under the P&O house flag rather than alphabetically as P&O's own Grand Event literature. |
