Porto, Lisboa, Silver Whisper, Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth (II), Queen Mary 2, Rotterdam (VI) & Ruby Princess in Lisbon
There were an staggering eight ships due to in Lisbon on the 6th May 2014.  Lisboa and Porto were still there from last year awaiting charters.  My friend Oskar and I flew over for the Cunard Queens, the rest being a bonus.  The main Queens photos will be linked at the end but those with the other ships I've included here.  As the press boat headed out to meet the Cunard ladies, the first ship to arrive was Silver Whisper, who would anchor until the rest had gone.  As the Queens were busy the other end, Rotterdam appeared.  We missed the arrival of Ruby Princess but would see her later.
Oskar and I went to the waterfront for the sailings and saw Ruby Princess.  The 113,000grt Ruby was the penultimate of the Grand derivatives (Azura for P&O Cruises being the last) and debuted in November 2008.  She would be calling at a few more ports before summering in Southampton for one season only.  The Queens were due to sail at 5.30pm but were nearly an hour late, eventually making an appearance after 6pm.  Surprisingly, both Ruby Princess and Rotterdam were silent towards their Carnival fleet mates.  As the sun was setting, it also became colder so we went back to the hotel so I could get my jacket then returned for the departures.  They were both due to sail at 8pm but Rotterdam moved on the dot, Ruby letting everyone know a few minutes later she wasn't going to be left behind.  Once they passed Silver Whisper, she upped her anchor and went to the Terminal da Rocha, where Rotterdam had been, and stay overnight.
And that was the end of a busy day, with every visiting ship heading to Southampton.  To see more photos of the Queens, click here.
