A new ship for me on the 22nd July 2011 as we sailed into Bergen when we would be joined by Gemini, the sister of Fred. Olsen's Braemar. Gemini is the oldest, debuting in 1992 as the 19,093grt Crown Jewel for Crown Cruises until a charter to Cunard in 1993, renaming her Cunard Crown Jewel along with her sister who became Cunard Crown Dynasty. Two years later she was sold to Star Cruises and became SuperStar Gemini until 2009. The following year she became just Gemini and operated by Quail Cruises of Spain until they ceased operations for a second time on the 24th September 2011, ending her cruise in Malaga the following day and headed to Gibraltar where she was laid up. She headed to Tilbury, arriving on the night of the 25th October. In June 2011 she was reunited briefly with her sister in Saint Petersburg but I have no idea if any passengers from either ship noticed, possibly because she retains her original appeareance while Braemar has been stretched and has additions. Even so, the Dracula cape halfway up the funnel is quite distinctive. From 2016 she was chartered by Celestyal Cruises (formerly Louis Cruises) and became Celestyal Nefeli. On this day we were both due to arrive for 8am and unfortunately weren't berthed at the same place. Grrr!
