Discovery & Adonia (II) in Stavanger
Adonia would be with us in the third port of call on my Discovery cruise on the 29th August 2012.  Neither the port schedule or P&O list arrival or depature times so I only knew ours, which was 7am.  I stayed in bed so missed it anyway.  Talking to people as we wandered around taking photos, we got a 3pm from one couple whose first cruise it was and 4pm from Derek Berriman, who we had a fascinating conversation with by some fishermen.  It had been his first time on a ship since the SA Vaal in 1973!  The port was full of vessels, which were part of an annual oil conference, hence us being berthed a bit out instead of opposite Adonia, and the also did a good job of oscuring the view at times.  On Discovery's bow, you can make out Island Princess under her current name when the light is right.
P&O had confirmed to me via Twitter Adonia was sailing at 4pm, so why did she blow her horn half an hour early????  Good job I knew that fart anywhere (as long as one of her seven sisters wasn't around!) so it was a mad dash up the stairs and out she was coming.
The review of my Discovery cruise can be found here.
