Golden Princess (II) & Diamond Princess
This review is written by Amy Blume.

On Saturday, November 3rd, 2007, Golden Princess and Diamond Princess were down at the Port of LA.  This was the first time I had seen Diamond in person.  Launched in 2004, she was originally Sapphire Princess which was being built at the same time, but after a fire devastated the original Sapphire, they swapped them over.  This 116,000grt ship like her sister Sapphire has the Skywalker's Nightclub pushed down into the superstructure instead of the "handlebar" position on the earlier Grand class Princesses like Golden.  Since I only had time for a brief visit I satisfied myself on this extremely sunny and somewhat hazy afternoon with images of the ships from land.  First I took pictures a picture of Diamond Princess with Golden behind her and the building of Pier 93 at Ports O'Call.  Because of the haze I headed over to Pier 93 where I took shots of Golden as she was readying herself to sail

I have to say that I'm getting a little tired of the square afts on these Princess ships.  I understand the design aspects of it, but I do think they could do something to make them more attractive.  They are paying people the big money to design these ships and there should be some streamlining so at the very least they look like an attractive block of apartments!!
