Carnival Spirit in Sydney
On the 11th April 2013, the last full day in Sydney after my Radiance of the Seas cruise, Carnival Spirit would be in the port, which had transferred to Australia from the 20th October 2012 as a replacement for P&O Australia's, Pacific Sun.  By all accounts, they had made her more towards the Australian market, including changing the sockets for Australian appliances.  The 88,500grt Carnival Spirit was the first of this class, which was the inspiration for the Vista hull seen through several Carnival brands.  They are also close cousins to Cunard's Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth as well as Costa Luminosa and Costa Deliziosa.  Spirit is a slightly enlarged version of Costa Atlantica, and debuted in 2001.  I went back to sleep after turning the alarm off, missing her arrival, so went for photos after I got up, beginning from the roof of the hotel.  Unusually, this was registered in Valletta, having been changed from Panama.
I went down to close to the OPT for the sailing and looked forward to the security gates being opened once she was off.  It was great being on the dockside.  She gave just two blasts to signal going astern and none after turning.
The review of my Radiance cruise is here.
