| A meeting of legends in Southampton on the 31st July 2008. QE2 and Maxim Gorkiy, both from 1969, were going to be in the port. We went down for Maxim's arrival but caught Lizzie finishing her turn and docking. Maxim was early, as I'd been warned by Christina Heinrich she would be. I'd seen Maxim a month earlier in Bergen when I was on Lizzie. Both ships ended their sailing careers in 2008 - Lizzie going to be ruined in Dubai while Maxim's plans to be Marco Polo II fell through and she ended up at Alang. |
