These four ships were in Southampton on the 18th May 2000. P&O's Victoria came first followed by Cunard's Caronia, P&O's Oriana and Phoenix Seereisen's Albatros. Albatros began life as Cunard's 21,989grt Sylvania in 1957, one of four sisters. In 1968 she was sold to Sitmar Line and renamed Fairwind for the Southampton to Australia route but was laid up in Southampton for two years until she was rebuilt to 21,985grt from the already increased 20,017 in 1965. She made her maiden voyage for Sitmar in 1972. In 1988 she was renamed Sitmar Fairwind but became Dawn Princess (I) that year after P&O bought Sitmar and was increased again to 24,803grt in 1990. Five years later she was sold to Happy Days Shipping and renamed Albatros, chartering her to Phoenix Reisen of Germany. Her days were numbered in December 2003 when a major mechanical fault was discovered and she was sold for scrapping, renamed Genoa for her final journey to Alang.
