| Arcadia (III) was sneaked in by P&O as the replacement to the much-loved Canberra on the 18th December 1997 after conversion from Star Princess (I). There was no fanfare announcing either arrival or sailing but the local news mentioned the maiden voyage on the 23rd December where it was said the funnel would be lit. The weather was appalling but that funnel wasn't lit whereas it was for the maiden world cruise the following month. |
