Queen Elizabeth (II) - Atlantic Coast Adventure
After I returned from the LFT test, we went for a stroll as the sun was setting.  Dinner was superb as always and by now most people ended up on the same tables every night thanks to the marvellous Maitre D'.  I had my favourite dessert ever this night - Jaffa Cake Meringue!  Oh it was heavenly!  When we got back to the cabin, we saw the Daily Programme had become festive.  I did my usual popping up in the Lizzie Lift for some night Betty, sitting on the games deck enjoying the peace.  On the way back, I spotted a crew Christmas Eve fun day schedule left on a table outside the theatre. Bed since I had my excursion in the morning.

Lisbon and the result of my lateral flow test was in the letter holder.  I went up the Lizzie Lift for our arrival under the bridge.  I was chatting to a woman who had never been to the city before and was very excited.  Corinthian was in with us, laid up.  Funchal was also further along our dock, having been bought by crypto millionaires, did who knows what in dry dock besides paint her all white and seemingly abandoned her.  I'd see her later though.  After breakfast I headed out for my tour, leaving my dad to go back to sleep.  There would be an emergency generator test at 10.30am so it would be interesting if he slept through any announcements!  We had been instructed to take our test result as it would be checked, and it was.  Although I had been to Lisboa since the new cruise terminal was built, I hadn't gone into town.  The previous time I'd been there towards the end of Marco Polo's final Christmas cruise, I only disembarked for photos of her and Columbus due to my health and to give a CMV mug to my friend Rui Minas.  One bloke had asked if I'd been ashore and when I told him no, he said the terminal was awful and had a very long walk.  I soon discovered that for myself!  As we were using the gangway, it made everything even worse.  That felt like half a mile by itself then you walk through towards the escalator/stairs.  There was a lift but when you have mobility issues like me, you still have to hike to get outside.  Then you walk to your tour.  I really missed walking straight out of the gate!

The tour itself was good for the most part.  Numbers were limited which meant plenty of seating and you had to wear a mask at all times.  Some hadn't brought warm clothes, which surprised me considering the time of year but then I saw a lot during my 2013 Australia and New Zealand cruise had done the same.  There were no windows, except flaps you could pull down.  The city part of the tour was excellent and with no glass, made for excellent photo opportunities.  It was the river part which was really a waste of time since we didn't go very far.  As we left the bus, we were all given a Portuguese tart.  Then there was the hell of getting back to the ship.  Up the steps and through security.  There at least was plenty of seating so I could rest.  After popping to the shop, I went back onboard, needing to sit by the library until the pain eased.  If my health situation doesn't improve I would do it again, although that awful terminal makes me loathe to get off the ship at all in my favourite European port.  After collapsing on the bed until the pain eased more, it was lunch in the Golden Lion.

Later in the afternoon,I went to meet my friend Rui to give him a Queen Elizabeth mug.  He collects them but it's always easier handing it over in person rather than trust the post.  I also took a photo of my dad while he was standing at the window.  I rested until dinner then grabbed my coat for night shots of Betty alongside.  Thank goodness for the seats at the other end I could rest on!  Just wish there was some along the walkway.  The way I am it feels like walking for miles.  It started to rain slightly so I didn't stay out too long.

The second day in Lisboa started off wet and miserable.  Anther room service breakfast.  My dad does like it.  I wouldn't mind going to the Britannia since buffets are difficult for me now when there re crowds, but he prefers it in the cabin.  I was still in pain after the previous day so wanted a lie in to recuperate.  Unfortunately the sleep was interrupted by the crew simulated fire drill announcements.  At one point, Captain Inger came on to tell people strongly to stay away from that part of the Promenade Deck.  After getting up again, I went for a wander to get photos of Funchal but it was raining so I didn't stay out long.  Later, Corinthian was supposed to sail at 2pm but didn't so I wasted my time there.  At least it had finally stopped raining!  Afternoon tea substituted lunch again then we relaxed until sailaway.
