Voyager - Springtime European Voyager

I decided rather than just get photos from near the water, I'd take a wander since my back was so far doing well.  The wander included steps, which I'd struggled with for the past four years but were an absolute doddle now.  As it was still early days for my recovery, I didn't overdo things so just headed back to the ship once I'd reached the water again but it felt fantastic being able to get that far.  Back on the ship and I asked a maintenance man if they'd started the repairs yet, to which he answered they were replacing a cooling pipe and should finish at 4pn so time for a snooze.  I was awoken by another maintenance man wanting to check the bedside light, which seemed fine to me and worked but he said he would come back later so I went back to sleep.  It had certainly warmed up by the time I went for lunch but I do like a virtually empty ship.  A meander on deck revealed they hadn't closed the aft steps on decks 7 and 8 so you could still get onto 6 and the outside area by the buffet.  And I found the fourth German sign left over from her Phoenix Reisen days.  I ordered a club sandwich from room service and did miss the fried egg Cunard put in their.  It was nice though.

Our departure was delayed until about 6pm because needed to do the switchover and test everything.  Meanwhile, Island Escape left.  The switchover was done at 6.15pm but still we didn't move.  I headed to the Sunset Bar for the quiz but Zumba was still hogging it, meaning Lauren was on the deck between that and the gym.  She told me she was so pleased someone finally got the Duran Duran answer because she no one could so had been thinking of changing it.  Now she could say she knows someone who got it right.  Zumba was still hogging after 6.30pm so Lauren had to chase them out.  With no announcement, we finally moved about 6.40pm – yay!!!!!  And we won the quiz again – double yay!!!  No pen this time. As it was drinks themed, we would be getting a free sailaway cocktail at the next quiz.  Just Carol and I went to dinner together so we joined Carolyn at her table then I popped out for the sunset and saw a dolphin but it was too quick to photograph it.  Later, with a snackette from the late night selection, I spotted AIDAblu en route to Palma de Mallorca from the window so went for some photos before going to bed.

Gibraltar day on the 28th April!  As usual for the Gibraltar Strait, it was incredibly windy.  My Discovery hoodie was a little help.  It was hard to believe we were now in the second half of the cruise, having boarded a week earlier.  Saga Sapphire was already in, so we would be going on the inside berth, another new experience for me.  A rowing boat was in the way so we honked at them, which made everyone jump and me say a few choice words.  We docked for noon and I went to lunch and sat with Peter, who was going on a tour.
