Vision of the Seas - 13 Night Ocean Voyage to the Caribbean
Unusually, I was awake for sunrise but went back to bed again afterwards.  I was trying not to think about being booted off my beautiful Vision in two days so enjoyed the relaxation while I could.  There was a barbecue by the pool but I had lunch in a much quieter Windjammer.  During the crossing, my balcony was shaded by 2pm.  Today it was sun until 5pm on it so I stayed in the cool writing the postcards I'd bought on the previous trip after checking you could buy stamps onboard.  They didn't appear to be selling postcards any longer.  I didn't see any in the shop and general souvenir tat was quite poor compared to recent years.  As I relaxed, I had one hell of a scare when I saw black smoke drift upwards from somewhere below the balcony.  Remembering the Grandeur fire, this was worrying for a second then I realised someone was welding or something so a huge sigh of relief was breathed.  I spied another ship ahead!  It was Norwegian Sun, which would be in Miami too.  This night was the International Parade of Flags, one of my favourite events on Vision, and I was so pleased they still did it wit the 'new' Centrum.  It's the only ship I've sailed on where they have it.  I spoke to someone afterwards who said P&O then Cunard and Cunard is P&O.  No, they have sailaways where you wave loads of plastic Union Jacks on deck.  Not quite the same thing.  The crew always seem to love taking part in this and Captain Ban was having a whale of a time.  Somehow I'd missed this in September so don't know if Captain Lis Lauritzen took part.  Then dinner and it was singing time!  Having heard O Solé Mio so often, I usually get out before they do it but this was funny with Dragan and another waiter entertaining us all.  When I returned to the room, it took a while before I noticed the towel money hanging up.  Back in 2008, Amy had screamed, "Patsy!  There's a monster in the room!" upon opening the door.  Then it was hanging from where the dividing curtain used to be.  Meanwhile, during my absence, Vision decided to have a bad coughing fit and leave soot all over the table.  I hadn't noticed until I saw it on my hands after trying to photograph a storm in the distance.
Our last sea day saw me get out of my comfy pit at 9.30am and saw Norwegian Sun was now behind.  Also, now it was daylight, I could see the full extent of Vision's coughing fit.  Only one chair had the soot because I had my fat bum on the other the night before.  I had breakfast in the Windjammer, looked after by Dragan and was told by his friend the acrobatics show, which was at 8.15pm and 10.15pm, would be forty-five minutes long.  The Compass didn't say.  The room was eventually done about 12.30pm, me returning as he was cleaning the balcony.  Now everyone was given their disembarkation information and my kick off time was 8.10am, which was pretty early considering the 5.10pm time of the flight with no day room, but at least I should be able to see all the other ships in Miami with us.  It was Walk For Wishes, led by Captain Ban with some of the other officers.  I decided to grab lunch in the Park Cafe instead of Windjammer and Iuri was there.  Norwegian Sun was later joined by Norwegian Star which, ironically, I had seen the first time in LA from the very same balcony.  Between sorting out my packing I went for wanders.  They were rehearsing for that night's premier of the acrobatics show.  We lost speed twice for some reason but Cuna looked nice.  Pity we couldn't go there.  The new Chef's Table was built into deck four of the Aquarius dining room but locked when not used so it was difficult trying to get in.  Emil had told me in Park Cafe to pop down and see José at first sitting and he would show me it, which he did.  I really liked this room.  It was cosy.
