Radiance of the Seas - 18 Night Australia & New Zealand Cruise
Our second sea day, which had been rough again.  It was raining - marvellous(!)  The portside Prom deck doors were closed but starboard open.  In the Centrum they had the horse racing as I headed to the Windjammer to find what didn't contain bell peppers.  Shortly after returning, the complimentary cheese plate arrived.  My aircon was stuck on hot, making the room stifling so I reported it and an engineer was there quite quickly.  Tracey Shield was rehearsing for a show as herself so another to avoid!  I missed the Crown & Anchor booze up due to my knee.  Carol was moaning again at dinner she wasn't getting salad cream with her salad.  Even when they tried to accommodate her, it wasn't good enough so printed off a recipe and demaded it was given to whoever.  She also looked down her nose at me when, after asking everyone how many C&A points they had, I told her I was Elite on Celebrity so Diamond on Royal Caribbean.  Yet she didn't treat Ann and Howard with such disdain.  I've done seven Celebrity and RCI to their five Celebrity and one RCI so technically have earned it more than them but it showed the sort of pretentious, stuck-up cow she is and too afraid to say the same to them as she did to me.  I never understood why she wanted to know about the points in the first place.  Was it to try more oneupmanship or is she insecure so a bit desperate to be better than everyone else?  She and her husband made me ashamed of my Yorkshire roots with their snobbery!  The first night anyway she was having a salad off the menu, and afterwards copied my tomato, cucumber and red onion which had begun when my waiter suggested it on on Celebrity Constellation in December 2011 since I hate lettuce and I've had on cruises since.  Joyce also copied after the first night, but added shredded lettuce and beetroot to hers and didn't want cucumber.  Joyce was moaning about the food, sending at least something back each night.  To the room and bed afterwards.
Adelaide and my tour was Adelaide Highlights at 11.30am so no time for lunch, just a late breakfast.  I had a wander, since the ship was virtually empty, just how I like it, and nearly got a lifeboat on my head as the crew were doing a drill, but one shoved me out of the way quickly.  I know some prefer people in photos but I don't.  I like to see the detail of the various rooms.  I'd missed the Solarium a few days before so got it.  This was where the new Park Cafe is, but on the opposite side to my photos.  It was raining, on and off as well as cold.  There were three buses for this tour so I got number 25, the last and least full.  Our driver/guide was Michael and he waited until time for passengers while the other buses left over ten minutes earlier.  As it turned out, two passengers didn't turn up so we went without them.  The viewing point for photos was rubbish.  You were supposed to see the skyline but couldn't really.  Mount Lofty was full of low cloud so we didn't stop there, instead going to see some replica boat before returning to the ship.  Passing through Glenelg, there was some random art on the wall called Lady Garden.  I wonder if it has the same meaning Down Under?  Sailing vessel, One and All, was sailing back to port.
As I was falling madly in love with Radiance, I wore my Vision T-shirt to give her some lurve, almost missing our 4pm sailaway.  I'd thought it was an hour later than that.  We were already moving away from the dock when I got up there.  THEN the sun came out!  Grrr!  Like Fremantle, once we reached open water, the wind whipped up.  Usual routine of Diamond Club, dinner, bed.
Another sea day as we tootled towards Hobart and we lost thirty minutes as we now came onto Melbourne and Sydney time.  It was a day of contrasting weather - sun, rain, snow even!  Beautiful rainbows though from the Diamond Club.  Earlier, the Captain came on with his noon speech, never saying the wind speed.  As soon as he stated everything was better now we'd slowed regarding bumpiness, there was a loud crash in the Windjammer.  We believed him - not!  Lazy day to rest my knee but did pop into the Quill & Compass after dinner.  During dinner, Ann was asked what it was like travelling first class (since she had to Australia).  "I don't want to talk about that," she says then proceeded to bore us to death about it!  Yet it was the same stuff everyone knows - stretch out, upstairs area.  Nothing about the real differences.  She bored everyone stiff about South Africa and didn't like it when Sue and Pete had done more than her.  None asked if I'd been, and I had in 1975 but these hadn't visited for over twenty years themselves but that didn't stop them behaving like experts on the current situation and tourist attractions there!  Meanwhile moaning Carol and Dave once again banged on about this cabin they'd booked but were now moved out of and got $200 OBC, but nothing was good enough for them.  It was 8102 which they claimed they hadn't been told was a restricted view, had a bulkhead and a long tunnel.  The one they'd been moved to was on the starboard side so she wouldn't get the sun.  She reckoned the person at Guest Services had told them they've had a lot of complaints about that cabin yet it's actually a very popular one!  Just looking at it in pictures, you can see the balcony is sheltered but bigger than those of the same grade.  Wouldn't surprise me if they ignored all advice from the person they booked it from and just looked at the size when they've had however long to research it and change before the cruise.  They're Diamond C&A members after all so hardly cruise virgins.  They said they were going to write to Royal Caribbean and demand a refund, even a partial one.  Well yes, says one of them, since they're now in a cabin with a balcony they can't use because of no sun.  Eh?  All sides get the sun at some point during the day.  And what about if it was cloudy and cold or raining?  They may be older but they're bloody stupid and I don't think RCCL refund for that!  They really should listen to themselves one day.  Whenever the next table would have a laugh, one of my lot would claim they were faking because our table was having more fun.  I wouldn't call trying to be superior and louder than everyone else "better".  Still it was giving me a source of amusement plus hugs from my wonderfully sympathetic waiters as I endured it night after night.  If it wasn't for them I'd have asked to be moved.
Hobart and a decent arrival time of 10.30am!  Pity I stayed in bed for it although I heard our bow thrusters as we neared the dock.  As my Hobart Lookouts & Gardens tour wasn't until 12.45pm, I had a wander to check out the scenery after going forward around deck 3 to get to the lifts as one gangway was my side.  It was very warm and a complete contrast to the day before.  Then I popped to a very quiet Windjammer for lunch.
