I made my way back to the tender dock since it began to spit and it absolutely bucketed while we were crossing the water to the ship. No one was brave enough to sit up top but you didn't need to with the amount of rain coming in through that way and the doors.

I went for some lunch afterwards then rested my knee, just going up to Diamond Club. We were supposed to sail at 6pm but, due to the transpacific train tour returning to the town at 5.45pm, we left at 6.30pm instead. Silently we left after upping anchor. I missed the show again but didn't care. I wanted to enjoy the scenery until the light hid it. As I was taking photos, one of the crew asked if I wanted my photo taken. Carol and Dave were back at dinner, making sure the conversation revolved around them. They said duty free alcohol is taken off you at Singapore while failing to mention EVERY liquid over a certain amount is. Didn't like it when I pointed that minor fact out. I went to bed after that as it was an even earlier start in the morning.

Our final port was Windy Wellington, but it didn't appear to be that blowy. As with Dunedin, we had a tug escort but it wasn't attached. After breakfast I went to the theatre to wait for my Wellington & Shipwreck Coast tour, which was at 7.30am. Security was there with the cutie beagle again as we left the ship. Our tour bus was just that - a bus! There was less legroom than a plane so with my knee, I was so pleased no one sat beside me. We were bus 7, bus 6 leading the way and 8 behind. The sun was rising as we left and made our way along the winding coastal road (closed to general vehicles) towards Pencarrow Lodge for a sheepdog demonstration before morning tea, stopping briefly to take photos of two lighthouses, the top of which is the oldest but no longer in use. Along this road is loads of gorse, which, like our back garden (which was planted by previous owners who thought it looked nice in the New Forest), it spread like wildfire and is a bugger to get rid of. Bus 7 disappeared, making the passengers worried but it would be returning, much to their relief. On the way back, we stopped at the SS Paiaka wreck and the working lighthouse then continued into town, a rainbow appearing as we did so. We'd had one at almost every place we'd been in New Zealand.
