| As we dried off we ordered some room service and watched as land disappeared into the distance. I decided to have a snooze only to be woken up my Mr "QUIET!" in 6070 having his telly blaring. It was the last of three formal nights. I had a World Club officers thing but didn't bother going. Rob lost his card so had to get another. He was told to get another drinks package sticker from the bar, so we traipsed to the Golden Lion only to be told he had to get it at the Purser's desk. Arse and elbow! Both of our oh so quiet neighbours were slamming doors and drawers. |

A shorter lie in after being kept awake by 6052 banging the headboard and groaning during the night because I wanted to get our disembarkation time changed and, unlike most other cruise lines, you can ONLY do it via the tours office which opens when it feels like. 9.45am disembark for Gold 4 was too long to wait so I went down and the earliest she would give was Gold 1 at 9.20am. She said she couldn't give me any earlier because it was for suites "and they've paid for it." Right so as a Platinum World Club member with priority check-in and embarkation, I couldn't get priority disembarkation. How bloody stupid is that???? We have a lounge to wait in but did I get that information? There were orange disembarkation labels but nothing on the sheet about them. Also, other cruise lines have suites but you can still go much earlier. Shopping to spend the last of the onboard credit, since they don't refund even when it's your money. I told Rob I would meet him on the observation deck but he missed the noon whistle due to being stuck in the queue. I waited for him in the cabin and heard Mr "QUIET!" deliberately pop a cork into the sea before proudly saying, "bye bye, cork" and returning inside. So that miserable git only used his balcony to smoke his cigars on and pollute the sea yet had the nerve to tell us, who spent a lot of time out there the entire week, to be quiet on the first sea day. Couldn't help wondering if it was a coincidence we never saw them when we had the other two. Lunch then I had a nap as I was getting the start of a sinus headache from the cold and rain, so Rob enjoyed the sun on the balcony. He woke me up to tell me we'd hit fog - wooo! We also had a foggy rainbow, which I'd never seen before but Rob pointed it out. Up to the observation deck to see what else was about! There were a couple of other horns around somewhere but soon it cleared - boo! We spent a couple of hours in the Commodore Club as more fog appeared. I went to photograph it and it was as weird as that I'd had in Malaga on the new Royal Princess. Another sodding informal night with luggage having to be out by midnight. We went ship spotting, as the AIS wrongly slowed Celebrity Eclipse close by when she was, in fact, nearer Dover. We did spot Costa Voyager tootling about in the hazy distance though killing time before Harwich in the morning. Then to dinner! Rob noticed he'd accidentally left the internet connected to his iPad instead of turning it off after using his last couple of minutes. We said goodbye to our table companions a bit earlier to go and see how much he was charged for that extra hour plus and thankfully there was enough money left in the onboard credit to cover it - phew! Such a relief my £0.00 bill would stay that way and for Rob too as he was incredibly worried. Once we put the cases out, we went to see where we were and found us passing Dover then wandered the decks. One of the lights was flickering and it took me ages to get it actually on. Later, from the comfort of the cabin, we spotted (just!) Aurora and Adonia then about 1.30am, he saw AIDAstella through the window. I was to tired I couldn't hold the camera straight. |

| Up at 4am and the pilot was jumping us while Vicky was in the distance. On the observation deck to see cutie Trinity House Vessel, Patricia, who was anchored off Cowes. We noticed a camera crew setting up and after Rob came back from the other side, said he thought the BBC political correspondent, Nick Robinson, was there so we went to see and it was! They boarded by pilot boat and were filming a documentary about immigration so we and others had to hide a few times. One bloke decided to bore him with tales of wet and windy Bergen before Rob asked to have his photo taken. Shortly afterwards, Nick left to go below for more filming. They managed to do the ropes on the third attempt. |

| We went to breakfast in the Britannia to kill time. My orange juice never turned up so the waiter got another. We think we saw Nick Robinson come in with his team and go to a table the other side of the room. Then it was time to gather our stuff and head to the Winter Garden. As usual, it was Declan running from room to room telling people when they could go. A woman near us was gabbing away to her friend who should have been at another meeting point, so you couldn't hear what he was saying. In the end, we were called at 8.40am, which suited us fine. Holiday is over so no point waiting longer to go. The 9am ferry back to Hythe was broken down so we caught the one after that then Rob collected his car from my house and headed back to Cambridgeshire.
To see more photos of the other ships, go to the Other Stalking index while those of us sailing from Southampton can be found in here. More photos of Vicky following us into Southampton are here. |
