Discovery - Oslo and the Magic of Norway
The reason we were docked slightly out of the usual place was the annual oil conference, hence all the vessels and tents.  There were so many in such a small place but an eclectic collection from old pleasure boats to posh cabin cruisers.  It was very nice seeing them all but they were blocking the view!  As we watched the local fishermen, we got talking to Derek Berriman, another passenger on Adonia but whose last ship had been the SA Vaal to Southampton in 1973.  We think the fishermen wanted rid of us because one turned a hose on so our feet got wet.  So we walked back to our ships and carried on the conversation.  Our ship still has Island Princess visible on the bow.
Lunch in the Lido and it was fairly quiet, which I like.  All those oldies buggering off.  Yes, I know I'll be that age one day but if I become as rude and inconsiderate as them, kill me!  Reagan was working up there on the ice cream and smiled.  Sweet!  Afterwards, I took some more photos.
Derek had told us Adonia was sailing at 4pm, same as us, but while Rob and I were relaxing in the cabin, we heard whirring noises, wondered what it was then three blasts.  That bitch was on the move without waiting for us to get there!  Our pilot was late meaning we were but off we went silently yet again.  I felt like jumping over and pressing that button to blow her whistle.
I went to afternoon tea afterwards, something I hadn't done yet.  it was in the Lido and basically self-service except for the sandwiches.  You told them what you wanted from the ingredients in front of them and they made it, giving you the option of as is or toasted.  Toasted was nice but it was only a light toasting.  I went to the Discovery Lounge to do the internet afterwards.  A doze until dinner then the quiz and nitpicker from the previous night didn't turn up.  It was hosted by Helen, who was taking over a cruise director on the following cruise.  She was incredibly dull and what was usually a fun quiz was silent and boring.  I hope she's improved now and has stopped saying "Can we have some hush?" like a schoolteacher.  An early night after that.
Early start as we were coming to my favourite port, Flåm for 7am but sailing at a ridiculous 1.30pm, meaning there wasn't enough time to enjoy it.  It was also the perfect time to go around the ship while people were asleep, except several oldies were up and waiting for breakfast!  Two of them were power walking around Deck 6, constantly getting in our way.  Bugger off!  Outside was raining - ugh!
